ILS
is one the largest Lift Service & Maintenance companies

ILS decided to purchase new workstations and a new Server
Netstar were called in after to integrate their I.T. systems
into a proper client server arrangement. First of all, Netstar

involved configuring the server as a domain controller and
then joining all the clients to the domain, drastically improving
performance.

engineers at Netstar worked during the weekend eliminating
any downtime for the ILS team, allowing them to continue with
their business when they arrived on Monday morning without

Elitenet
is a rapidly growing electrical contractor based in Ilford,
Essex.Elitenet decided that it was time to upgrade their
IT systems and at the time decided to use a freelancer
that came highly recommended to them.After being set up

King
Solomon’s School
The
Challenge
King
Solomon’s is a well-regarded secondary school situated
in Barkingside, Essex. Having implemented an IT system
to facilitate classroom training for GCSE classes, the
school soon found that the speed and reliability of the
network fell far below expectations
Our
Solution
Our first step was to evaluate the whole of King Solomon’s
network infrastructure, before producing a concise action
plan to set out in plain English what was required to enhance
the network. In today’s demanding school environment,
robustness and stability are central to the network’s
reliability. We also set out to ensure that no amount of horseplay
on the system would cause it to topple over.After analyzing
the school’s network, we found that the majority of
bottlenecks were occurring in the main server room due to
lack of bandwidth, and therefore introduced a D-Link Chassis
Switch. This ensured that all departments and servers were
able to run on a single backbone (1000Mpbs), which offered
sufficient bandwidth to operate.

All departments now have fast access to the network via a backbone
of 1Gbps; this ensures that staff and students are able to get
on with their work with minimal delay

Leytonstone
High School
The
challenge
Schools
often resort to temporary classrooms and rooms where computers
must be shared with other equipment. Leytonstone felt that
they needed PC’s in every classroom but faced with
budget constraints this was not possible.
Our
Solution
We
were able to create a mobile PC environment enabling the transfer
of a team of laptops to and from three science rooms, therefore
saving on costly cabling and PC hardware.
The
equipment used for the wireless project consisted of cutting
edge Wireless Access Points and PCMCIA network cards from
D-Link alongside laptops and a laptop trolley from a leading
manufacturer.
The
Wireless Network cards enabled secure connectivity to their
curriculum network ‘without the need for wires!’ .The
trolley also doubled up as a charging bay allowing total
portability.
The

have been able to involve students more with ICT within the
school.
Any
classroom with just one network connection can be turned into
an ICT suite with just one connection.

Zenith
Chemical Systems Ltd
The
Challenge
Zenith
has grown to become one the UK’s leading contenders
in the supply and manufacture of superior cleaning products.
Due
to Zenith’s rapid expansion they opened up a new
office building adjacent to the old building.
Netstar
was called in to ensure that the transaction between buildings
was smooth and that all data cabling was in the appropriate
places.
The
Solution
Netstar
task team was called in and over the period of two days 50
new Cat5e Data outlets were installed in the new building
as well as 4 Cat 5e links to the existing building.
Netstar
also had the task of extending Zenith’s phone system
into the new building using a 100 pair BT certified cable.
Over
the weekend Netstar managed to transfer their existing
hardware into the new building and get it up and running
so that all phones and PC’s were operational on Monday
morning when staff attended.
