Homecare & Domestic Services Ltd - Case Study

The Challenge

Homecare and Domestic Services is an independent company who, for many years, have been supplying high quality domiciliary care to London Boroughs, Social Services, Health Authorities and Trusts, local businesses and Temporary care staff for Hospitals and Care Homes.

The company was previously working on a peer to peer network which was proving inadequate and hard to manage for there 20+ users. Homecare also required a solution to enable there staff to all have e-mail accounts so that they could contact suppliers / customers where necessary.

Homecare previous support provider was also not providing them with the level of support and response times that the company required.

The Benefits / Solution

Homecare’s systems have been completely overhauled. Small Business Server 2003, shares the new internet connection giving company members access to e-mail, the internet and company files, both within the office and remotely. Should the worst happen to any of the companies systems, the back up solution helps keep vital files safe.
Homecare’s network runs a lot faster due to a proper client server setup enabling there main database application (caremanager) to run a lot faster and in turn increase productivity. Homecare also have the provision through SBS to give remote users access to there system via remote work web place and secure VPN’s.
This has enabled Netstar to connect up a branch office so they can in turn use caremanager and e-mail as if they were in the office. Now that staff members have their own e-mail address, they have more communications options which helps to ensure that they can overcome any obstacle to communicating more efficiently with customers and suppliers.

To ensure that there systems are always operational Homecare have a support contract in place with Netstar so that there is minimal downtime in event of a problem. As part of our daily proactive support routine Homecare's server is checked for any errors so that possible problems are caught in there early stages.
